2021 Big East Transfer Portal, Vol. 10

Creighton’s 6’6 Antwann Jones has entered the transfer portal. Jones is the fourth player to leave the men’s basketball program at Creighton this offseason, joining Christian Bishop, Jett Canfield, and Nic Zeil. The total number of players from the Big East who have entered the transfer portal this offseason now sits at 43.

Antwann Jones committed to Creighton after his freshman year at Memphis. Jones sat out the 2019/2020 season per medieval transfer rules, and played his lone year at Creighton this past season as a redshirt sophomore. With senior forwards 6’5 Damien Jefferson and 6’5 Denzel Mahoney being heavily relied upon in 2020/2021, it made sense that Jones would have to take a backseat for the time being. However, Jones’ playing time decreased as the latter half of the season went on. Despite the top five nationally ranked recruiting class that is coming to Omaha this upcoming season, it’s fair to say that Jones would have been utilized a lot more on a team that only returns 6’6 Alex O’Connell (5th year SR) and 6’0 Shereef Mitchell (JR) as upperclassmen.

It did not take Antwann Jones long to find a new destination, as he will be joining former St. John’s guard Greg Williams at Louisiana.
