2021 Big East Transfer Portal, Vol. 8

Georgetown’s Jamari Sibley has entered the transfer portal. Sibley is the third player to leave the Hoyas this offseason, joining Qudus Wahab (Maryland), and TJ Berger (San Diego.) The total number of players who have transferred from the Big East this offseason now sits at 40.

Sibley arrived at the Hilltop with expectations to be a key rotational piece for the Hoyas from day one. Unfortunately these expectations were not met during the 6’8 forward’s lone season under Patrick Ewing. Despite being the top rated recruit in Georgetown’s 2020 recruiting class, Sibley struggled to see significant playing time during the 2020/2021 season as he only saw double digit minutes once. While this could be chalked up to Ewing wanting to go with more experienced players over the 2020 freshmen, there is reason to believe that Sibley may have still been recovering from a foreman injury that occurred during his final year at Oak Hill. Regardless of the reasoning behind his lack of minutes, Sibley showed flashes on both sides of the court this past season, and brings quality upside to whichever program he goes to next.

We wish Jamari the best in his future endeavors.
