2021 Big East Transfer Portal, Vol. 7

After a brief hiatus, we are back!

Since the last update DePaul’s Nick Ongenda announced he’ll be returning to the Blue Demons while three new players are in search of a new destination; Seton Hall’s Jeff Ngandu, and the Marquette duo of Jose Perez and Dexter Akanno. The total amount of players who have left the Big East this offseason now sits at 39.

Both Dexter Akanno and Jose Perez played sparingly for the Golden Eagles in 2020/2021. 6’5 Perez transferred to Marquette by way of Gardner-Webb after averaging 15 points in two seasons for the Runnin’ Bulldogs. 6’4 Akanno came to Milwaukee as the 400th ranked recruit in the nation, per 247 composite rankings, but any YouTube highlight video of his showcased the California’s native athletic ability. Unfortunately the untapped basketball potential never materialized for Akanno as he departs the program after his redshirt freshman season. Both losses leave newly head coach Shaka Smart with more roster flexibility moving forward.

6’9 Jeff Ngandu departs the Seton Hall program without ever stepping foot in New Jersey for the 2020/2021 season; Ngandu currently faces visa issues and has been “stuck” in Canada since the COVID-19 pandemic made its’ way to the continent.
